Sprint: Navy Leather - Extra Depth Shoes
What are some of the Most Comfortable Extra Depth Shoes?
Size matters! Especially when it comes to depth and width. If you are one of the millions of women with wide feet, you may be looking for extra wide and extra deep shoes. Extra depth shoes may conjure up ideas of orthopaedic-looking shoes, but fortunately there are plenty of stylish women’s shoes with extra depth out there!
If you need extra depth shoes, you generally need to look shoes with a generous toe box. The toe box is the area at the front of the shoe and if you have wide feet, it is very important to wear shoes with extra depth in the toe box. This is to prevent cramping your toes, squashing your wide feet or causing any sort of foot injury.
If you need to wear an orthotic, the most comfortable extra depth shoes will take this into consideration. Either the shoe will have a removable footbed or it will be extra wide and extra deep so that you can insert your orthotic in the shoe.
If you suffer with foot conditions such as hammer toes, bunions or swollen feet, you will need to find shoes with extra depth in the toe-box too. Wearing shoes which are too narrow can cause all sorts of different foot pain and can worsen existing foot conditions.

What shoes are good for older adults?
Our feet can change in shape and size over time. Whether it's the hot weather which makes them swell or life events like pregnancy, it is normal for our feet to change.
Many of us assume that once we reach adulthood, the same shoes will fit us for the rest of our lives. However this is not always the case. As we get older, our feet may spread and get wider.
During pregnancy, a lot of women’s feet change. As your hormones prepare and relax the body for childbirth, they also relax the ligaments in your feet which can cause the feet to spread and also form bunions.
If your feet have become wider in recent years, you may need to wear shoe with extra depth in the toe box. Extra depth shoes will help keep your feet happy and healthy by giving them enough room to relax in their natural position.

What’s the Difference between a Standard Shoe and Extra Depth Shoe?
Most standard width shoes are approximately 3 to 5 inches wide, depending on the size of your shoe. As you go up half a shoe size, the width of your shoe will increase by approximately 2.25mm.
If you have an extra wide foot, you will need to look for extra wide and extra depth shoes which have more millimetres in width than normally prescribed for your shoe size. A wide-width shoe will add between 4-8mm to the standard width. An extra wide-width and extra depth shoe may add up to 16mm to the standard width.
